Keycaps
Keycap profiles, materials, and color options for the MDR Dasher keyboard
What Is a Keycap Profile?
A keycap profile is the shape, height, and sculpting of the keycap. Different profiles change the typing feel, sound, and aesthetics of the keyboard. Some profiles are tall and dramatic, others low and flat — the choice is personal preference.
Profile Comparison
| Profile | Height | Top Shape | Row Sculpting | Character |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SPSA | Tall | Spherical (concave) | Sculpted | Retro, dramatic, screen-accurate |
| XDA | Low | Flat | Uniform | Modern, minimalist, rearrangeable |
| OEM | Medium | Cylindrical | Sculpted | Familiar, comfortable, versatile |
Available Profiles
SA / SPSA (Signature Plastics SA)
High-profile with a spherical (concave) top surface. The tallest and most dramatic profile available. SPSA delivers a retro aesthetic directly inspired by vintage terminals — and is screen-accurate to the keyboard prop used in Severance. This is the premium upgrade option for those who want the most authentic experience.

XDA
Low-profile with a flat top surface and uniform height across all rows. A modern, minimalist feel. Because every row is the same height, XDA keycaps are easy to rearrange — useful if you experiment with alternative layouts.

OEM
Medium-height with sculpted rows — each row has a different angle, guiding your fingers to the correct position. This is the most familiar profile, similar to what comes on most retail keyboards. Comfortable for extended typing sessions.

Material
- SPSA — Doubleshot ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene).
- XDA / OEM — PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) with dye-sublimation printing. PBT is more durable than ABS — it resists the shine and oil buildup that develops on ABS keycaps over time.
Legend Printing
- SPSA — Doubleshot legends. The legend is a separate piece of plastic molded into the keycap, so it can never wear off.
- XDA / OEM — Dye-sublimation legends. The characters are dyed directly into the PBT plastic rather than printed on top, so they will never fade.
Color Scheme
MDR Dasher keycaps use the iconic Dasher palette:
| Color | Hex | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Light Blue | #008fb0 | Primary keycap color |
| Dark Blue | #006f9a | Accent and modifier keys |
This two-tone blue scheme carries directly from the original Data General Dasher D2 terminal.
