How to use the MDR Terminal at terminal.atomickb.com — purchasing, order management, and configuration
All purchases and order management for MDR Dasher happen through the MDR Terminal at terminal.atomickb.com. This guide walks you through everything you need to know.
Getting Started
- Open terminal.atomickb.com in a desktop browser for the best experience.
- You'll land on the Lumen Screen. Follow the menu to enter.
- Type in a file name (e.g. Cold Harbor) and click a card on the Rolodex to enter the Number Refining program.
- Click the Address Bar at the bottom of the screen to open the navigation menu.
The menu has four modes:
- Build Mode — Purchase a new keyboard.
- Order Mode — View and manage your existing order.
- User Mode — View and edit your profile.
- Reboot — Restart the system and re-enter the MDR Terminal.
How to Log In
Click the Keycard in the top-right corner, flip it to the back, and click the Profile Picture. You'll be redirected to the Shopify login page. After logging in, you'll return to the system in User Mode.
Apple Users (iCloud / Hide My Email): If you signed up with an Apple relay email, you may not see your order after logging in. This is a known issue. Register a new account with a different email address, then email info@atomickb.com and we'll transfer your orders to the new account.
If you can't see your order after logging in, make sure you're using the same email address tied to your Kickstarter account.
For New Buyers (Build Mode)
If you're purchasing a new MDR Dasher keyboard:
- Go to terminal.atomickb.com/build or open Build Mode from the Address Bar menu.
- Configure your keyboard: layout, switches, keycaps, case finish, and panels.
- Complete checkout through Shopify.
Currently US-only, Full set only. Barebone kits are not available through Build Mode at this time.
Choose your keycaps carefully. Keycap selection cannot be changed after checkout in Build Mode. If you want SPSA (screen-accurate) keycaps, select them before paying. For any post-checkout changes, email info@atomickb.com.
For Kickstarter Backers (Order Mode)
If you backed MDR Dasher on Kickstarter or through PledgeBox:
- Go to terminal.atomickb.com/orders or open Order Mode from the Address Bar menu.
- Click your order number (starts with 0x) to see the full breakdown of your order.
Do NOT use Build Mode. Build Mode is only for placing new orders. If you see a charge for ~$1000, you're in Build Mode by mistake. Go to Order Mode instead — your existing order and payment are already there.
How to Modify Your Configuration
Use the Kickstarter Config Changer to change what you already have:
- Go to Order Mode and click your 0x order number.
- Click the Kickstarter Config Changer button (available after shipping is paid).
- You can change:
- Case Finish — Smooth (screen-accurate) or Retro (textured, Data General Dasher style)
- Switches — Choose from WO, FC, DR, MA, or MDR
- Keycaps — XDA, OEM, or upgrade to SPSA
- Nameplate — Scroll down to the bottom of the Config Changer to edit your nameplate (Line 1 and Line 2).
- Click Request to save your configuration.
SPSA Keycap Upgrade: This is a one-way upgrade for an additional $70. Once upgraded, it cannot be reversed through the portal. If you need to downgrade, email info@atomickb.com.
How to Pay Shipping / Add Extra Items
Use Order Amendment to pay shipping or add new items to your order:
- Go to Order Mode and click your 0x order number.
- Click Order Amendment at the bottom.
- Fill in your name, shipping address, and country.
- Optionally select extra items to add (e.g. additional panels, keycap sets).
- Complete the two-step sign-off:
- In the first section (INNIE), click Approve and Sign.
- In the second section (OUTIE), click Approve and Sign.
- Click File to submit.
- Pay through the Shopify checkout link that appears.
- Return to your order page to verify the status.
Make sure your name and shipping address are filled in before clicking File. If the button doesn't redirect you to payment, check that both sign-off steps are completed and your address is entered.
Add-on panel finish changes (e.g. switching an extra panel to Retro) cannot be done through the portal. Email info@atomickb.com and we'll handle it manually.
Config Changer vs Order Amendment
These are two different tools — use the right one:
| Kickstarter Config Changer | Order Amendment | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Change what you already have | Add new items or pay shipping |
| Use for | Switches, keycaps, case finish, nameplate | Extra panels, keycap sets, shipping payment |
| Payment | Only if upgrading (e.g. SPSA +$70) | Charges for new items + shipping |
Do not use Order Amendment to change your existing configuration. Use Config Changer for that.
Common Issues
"It's trying to charge me $1000!"
You're in Build Mode, which is for new purchases. Go to Order Mode instead to see your existing order. Your Kickstarter payment is already recorded there.
"I can't see my order after logging in"
- Make sure you're logging in with the same email tied to your Kickstarter account.
- If you used an Apple relay email (Hide My Email / iCloud), your order may not appear. Email info@atomickb.com to link your order to a different email.
"Build page and Order page show different options"
Build Mode and Order Mode are completely separate systems. Build Mode is for new purchases, Order Mode is for your existing order. They are not connected. Only look at Order Mode for your current order.
"I clicked File but nothing happens"
Make sure you completed both sign-off steps (INNIE and OUTIE) and that your name and shipping address are filled in. Both approvals are required before the File button will redirect you to payment.
"The configurator added items I didn't want"
If the configurator added unexpected items to your order, email info@atomickb.com and we'll remove them. Do not worry about being charged for items you didn't intentionally add.
